One: Create inaccessible resources
If you're sharing photos, charts, etc., put alt text on those for those of us who are visually impaired, blind, have migraines, struggle to read text on images, etc.
1.b. Video and audio content must have captions for people who are deaf, hard of hearing, have audio processing issues, or other reasons why they need to access information via text or other visual means. For videos, also have a full transcript with visual descriptions integrated

You can learn more about accessibility on Chronic Sex .
Don't be inaccessible while talking about lack of access, k?
Two: Call abortion a "woman's right to choose."
I'm a transgender man. I have a uterus and could easily get pregnant. This is about my bodily autonomy, too, and reducing the situation to only cis women ignores too many of us - AND misgenders us. Don't cause more violence.

A PERSON dies every 8 minutes from an unsafe abortion.
Fixed it for y'all to not reduce this to accidental (or intentional) anti-trans bioessentialism.

Cis women: please take this nightmare moment to see the very clear, bold line between a trans person’s right to bodily autonomy and your own and understand why we are your allies and anti-trans bigots will *never* be.

Please remember that it’s not just cis women who can get pregnant who are effected by Roe V Wade. Trans men, non-binary people, gender queer — everyone with a uterus is effected by this. It’s not too late to adjust your language. Signed, a non-binary agender person.

Side note: Here are inclusive birthing terms . Use them.

Question about point 2.
If you're a man, why do you keep your uterus or even taking the uterus into consideration when you as a man don't suppose to have one? Isn't that what a man is? And I don't talk about the born way but the choice to be and/or identify as man.
I almost died during top surgery and was told to avoid all surgeries unless I absolutely couldn’t.
Furthermore, as someone who helps people access a variety of healthcare for my day job, I can tell you accessing sterilization procedures - even for trans folks - is not easy .
Constantine¹²⁷ ⁷ @nct_yeet
it's also not easy even if you want to. I have literally no idea how to get a tubal litigation because from what I've heard, most doctors will refuse if you're under 30 and/or have no have kids. I am 19 and never want kids.

This is part of what folks like Lorde have meant when discussing the interconnectedness of oppression.

Five: Act like a person's interest in this matter is only based on their bodily functions.
Cis women can be interested in this if they have no uterus or struggle with infertility. Trans folks without a uterus can be concerned RE bodily autonomy. (See 3 for more)

Bodily autonomy is good.
No person owes their body to another.
No person owes their body to the state.
Our bodies should be fully our own to do with as we please.
Bodily autonomy is good.

Six: Engage in racism or bigotry to support your point.
Sharia law is a specific thing. It is not what is happening here.

May i please add, "Do not engage in Islamophobia by asserting that a predominantly white evangelical and white Catholic Christian issue is somehow tantamount to sharia." This situation has nothing to do with the Taliban or any other group of Islamists.

Especially given that discussion has taken place today about how abortion was banned in the 1800s… due to racism (the fear non-white babies were being born more frequently than white ones)

Seven: Blame religion, period.
This isn’t religion. It’s authoritarianism and fascism.
Chai #StopTheShock Elemental @IMissCarrie
I would also like to add "stop blaming 'religion' for this." It's not "religion." Abortion bans actually infringe on the religious freedom of Jewish people who can become pregnant, for example. It's Christofascism that's contributing to this heinousness.

Eight: Make arguments that Viagra, Cialis, etc., should be banned if abortion is.
Not only is Janet’s point vital, but many trans people need access to these medications in order to have sex as well.
Silver Sky by Janet @silverskyjanet
And we shouldn’t use the arguments that viagra and other ED medications should be banned in retaliation. Viagra and similar drugs are a necessary part of upholding the rights of disabled people to have sex.

Nine: Assume you’ll be okay because you live in a ‘northern’ state.
From NPR :
Eighteen states have “trigger laws” to ban abortion if Roe is overturned or have pre-Roe abortion bans still on the books. Additionally, some states have laws — not currently in effect — banning abortion after six to eight weeks.
Ten: Forget the people who need or get abortions without an emergency.
It's tempting to focus on those needing abortions in emergent situations, such as those who would otherwise die without an abortion. It's vital that we don't forget stories like those from my anonymous friend .
My abortion saved my life. Not metaphorically, literally.
I would have died had I not had access. I'm not moralizing or saying only certain reasons are acceptable--I'm sharing my experience.
Abortions are necessary medical procedures for ANYONE who needs them. Period.

Any reason for abortion is enough.
Eleven: Make moral judgments.
Alison Brown אילה @brownalm
Do not say anything like "I'd never personally have an abortion, but I want others to have the right to choose." Your personal moral feelings on (hypothetical) abortion are irrelevant & contribute to the sense that abortion is bad, rather than a morally neutral medical procedure.

And no one who could get pregnant can be sure they'd never have an abortion. No matter how anti-abortion someone is personally, if they or their partner find themselves with an ectopic pregnancy they'll be at the abortion clinic real fast.

THIS. Also, I was pro-abortion for myself from the moment I learned what pregnancy was like and learned that I had the choice. Now that I’m pregnant, I don’t want an abortion. You literally NEVER know until you are personally in this position.

Also: Stop saying anything along the lines of "pro-lifers should adopt/foster all those unwanted kids if they actually care about life." Fosters and adoptees are human beings. We are not a burden. We are not a punishment for bigoted conservatives. ALL kids deserve safe homes.

One: Think before you share information.
-Does this tweet contain accurate information, or am I contributing to doom scrolling or panic?
-Is this harmful to folks in the transgender, disability, BIPOC, and additional communities?
-Do I need a break?
Two: Listen to those who have attempted to or successfully accessed abortion.
This was amazing #9. Reminder to center the voices of folks who have experienced an abortion ❤️

Three: Take time to learn about the laws in your area and the history.
If you're new to this work, you may not realize some of the laws that pre-date Roe v Wade make even 'liberal' states ban abortion.
The minute that this opinion is formally entered and Roe v Wade is no longer law, abortion will be illegal in Michigan. We have a law from the Great Depression era to thank for that.

Four: Prepare.
I know that it's easy to feel upset and lost right now. I took my time for that last night. Now that we've seen a game plan, it's time to prep our defense.
-Connect with bodily autonomy-related orgs
-Stock up on Plan B
Only do this if you are connected with organizations or ways to distribute this to people who may need it. This is not for your personal use.
Recognize that Plan B is not effective for everyone. There is a weight limit . (Yeah, I know, I make that face every time I think about it, too.)
Using Plan B multiple times in one month can be incredibly harmful, especially depending on health issues, medications, etc. That’s especially true for mental health conditions such as depression.
-Share resources that are inclusive and justice-focused
