Or, I'm Moving to ButtonDown

A few weeks ago, I joined in cosigning the letter asking Substack why keep platforming Nazis. If you hadn’t seen, they responded pretty awfully:

I just want to make it clear that we don’t like Nazis either—we wish no-one held those views. But some people do hold those and other extreme views. Given that, we don’t think that censorship (including through demonetizing publications) makes the problem go away—in fact, it makes it worse.

It’s gross.

When I started this newsletter, there weren’t always other spaces where I could talk frankly about DEI, my experiences, sexuality, and more. Thankfully, there are other options now.

I’m no longer going to be publishing this newsletter on Substack, as of the beginning of 2024. I found a better option in the platform ButtonDown, who does not allow Nazi content.

Because of how easy they’ve made the process, I’ve already signed you all up for the newsletter on their site here. That means that the next email you get from me will come from ButtonDown and not Substack — you don’t have to do a thing to keep receiving these emails!

If you’d rather not receive emails from me in the future, please use the unsubscribe option below OR reply and let me know. I’ll make sure to remove you from ButtonDown before I start sending out news there.
